When asked the question what are my plans for when I finish university and for the future it is often a very hard question to answer. I find myself frequently asked and thinking of the perfect answer to this question as I finish my degree at the end of this year. One thing I am certain of is there are multiple different ways to look towards the future. My ultimate goal would be fashion marketing, yet there are so many things I would love to do both completing personal goals and career goals. I have interests in travel, fashion and further pursuing studies. The more I am asked this question the more I realise I cannot answer in one simple answer.         

Travelling 

I have a strong interest in travelling, exploring the world and learning new things. Completing my study abroad this semester is only further fulfilling this idea that I would like to continue my travels and create new experiences around the globe. I have loved how travelling on exchange this semester has allowed me to meet new people, understand new cultures and learn new things both within my classes and about cities around America and the world. The ability to travel to a new city on a weekend, to try new foods and to experience this with new people is such an exciting possibility. Travelling allows me to meet new people creating networks around the world that are not only great for me personally but when moving into my career goals could assist me moving into the future. This study abroad experience is only making me realise that I don’t want to only focus on my career but to continue making experiences and exploring the world. 

Fashion Marketing  

My ultimate goal when finishing university is to work within the fashion marketing sphere and this is a career of networking and developing my portfolio. Currently, I have been able to work in the fashion industry working for an Australian designer, Rachel Gilbert. That has allowed me to meet so many amazing people who have only encouraged me to continue to pursue my interest in this career and to explore the world. Meeting so many amazing people from around the world, working and hearing their experiences and stories only encouraged me to travel and explore the world myself. Finishing my degree from the University of Sydney this year in Marketing will allow me to continue my interests in this field. The thing I have found so exciting about this career prospect is that I have the ability to travel and explore the world of fashion. Being able to possibly work in locations such as New York, London, Milan, Los Angeles is such an exciting idea that only further pushes me towards this career. 

Postgraduate Study 

I have been interested in completing my postgraduate studies in Law … I know a very big change from my other plans. I have a strong interest in Law and my studies of politics have only continued to push me to explore this. I know what people say about law “it’s a long degree”, “you have to be committed to it”, “do you really want to start another degree?” As much as I consider these questions and comments I do love the idea of studying law and the possibilities it would create for me. While this will include me studying for an extra three years within university I am very interested in this field and believe it could only assist me working towards my goals of Fashion Marketing. Having the ability to read and understand contracts is a very effective tool. 

The one thing I am certain of is the uncertainty of the future and how while these goals all seem so far away right now I need to start working towards them. The future is exciting and scary. There are many sleepless nights and unanswered questions as to what I will do when I finish my university studies. However anything can be possible as I continue to take chances and explore the world. I continue to find new loves and new interests that I would be passionate about following.
